Labtop or desktop

Im divided between my parents getting me a desktop or a labtop and ill be designing vidoe games on what ever i want and it must be able to play WOW and GW so what do u think i should get

laptops nowadays are strong enough to play those games with ease....

but dont forget...
you as a college student... might want to be flexible in time and place... so a portable one would be more handy... ö.ö;;


me personally also wants to by a laptop (every laptop available cant be worse than my pc =_= )
but i will still keep my old big pc... so that my mom will be able to play mahjong on it while me sitting at the pc at the same time =3
and i might use the old as for somewhat as a base for storing stuff... if there is enough place =_=

are u getting a router or have already bought one and a reciever

i already have one... that is wireless-able

so that my pc is connected through cable..
and my laptop will be through wireless

well at leat you got that laready i still need to get my router and reciever

i automatically got that when we established internet....
so i dont even know how its different possible

(sure i know its possible but i dont know about that at all >> me ish a noob there)

whe we got cable we didnt get that we have to pay for reciever and router so i can use it for computer

oh...

we got a nice tariff... with that all inclusive...
and 6 month long paying 10€ less than normal XD (every month paying the same amount of money; not counted after how much you use the internet)
though without that USB stick for wireless connection (for this we would have needed to pay)
but when i have a laptop i sure will buy this lil thing too... XD

Desktop is better no contest, but if your in college, I would go with a laptop.

The major disadvantage in laptops is that you cannot update it's hardware. If you are ok with that, buy a laptop.

yea ryuku is right, desktops are the best for that but laptops are portable o.o and better for a college student xDD i speak from experience also lol

so.. a laptop is the only solution ^^

maybe... if i decide to study.... or get my apprenticeship or whatever... my parnts might buy me one or suppoort me with a bit of money...

no i do not think not the labtop wouldnt handle what i want to do to it

o.o dude you coulda gotten that on a laptop e.e seriously they have laptops with that hardware and the graphic cards are easy to change. XD as for the rest of it i think a comp is a better choice for you just coz of what you want to do .

I've been using the same laptop since I started college, and I am now a Junior. My computer has been great for what I've needed to do. The only real problem I've had is wanting to play new games on it, my laptop isn't strong enough for it or has the min specs.

I've been considering buying a new laptop since they now have greater specs than they did 2 years ago.

I see many laptops now with at least 1 gig of ram and 120 gig of hard drive space, my laptop has 512 mb ram and only 50 gig of hard drive space.

I will buy a new computer soon I think because mostly I want to be able to play the game I want on my computer.

If your just using your computer for school almost anything will do really since you can't do anything that memory intensive on a computer unless your a studying something like movie making.

Desktops are generally cheaper and have better specs than laptops but laptops are pretty easy to move around.

Since you mentioned you want to be able to play WOW and GW I recommend getting a desktop because games are usually made with the chips designed for desktops in mind, laptop chips may work fine for the game but they won't always be of the caliber of those desktop ones unless you buy one of the newest laptops out then your laptop would be on par to a desktop.

Just check out the specs for those games and plan your purchase accordingly.
